As a wee lad, I was painfully shy and introverted. I was terribly scared of the world. My personal horizon was about thirty feet from my feet because that’s about as far I ever looked. Needless to say, I was missing a lot. When I was about eight years old, my mother was dating a guy who was a total character. I won’t go into too many details, but I have never met another human who had two of his ribs bitten out of by a horse, and who has also nearly paralyzed his hand with embalming fluid (I witnessed that last one.)
